A performance full of joy, light and sentimental moments
“BollyWood” is a dance performance that unites the elements of both modern and Indian dance. It is an interpretation of bollywood – a synthesis of classical art of acting and modern dance. It is exactly this combination that takes a breath away.
“BollyWood” creates an allusion to Bollywood movies that are full of joy, light, and sometimes – tears. However, the author of this performance, as if having read people’s thoughts, says: “We will distance ourselves from India, its sparkles and clichés”.
The plot of the play fascinates with great humour, taking back to the old tradition of Bollywood movies. Three young sisters find themselves in a big, unfamiliar city, where they meet three lovers. This is when the fun begins! The sisters have to go back to India with their fiancées and introduce them to their angry mother (Eglė Mikulionytė). Will the mother accept the modern youth and what difficulties will they have to face?
In “Bollywood”, the main roles are performed by Eglė Mikulionytė, dancers Simona Paciukonytė, Irina Nazarenko and Evaldas Taujanskis as well as Gytis Ivanauskas himself.
The choreographer got interested in Bollywood dances seven years ago, while studying in Austria. As he was mesmerized by the mood, emotion, dance manner and, even, naivety created by Indian dance, he started introducing this to Lithuanian theatre stage.
“Bollywood” – is a play about love and devotion. I would like people to remember each other and pay more attention to those around them. I want people who come to see the play to leave their bad emotions behind, just like in old Bollywood movies” – says Gytis Ivanauskas.
